This was my 7th cruise and perhaps most enjoyable. We found the staff to be very professional as well as friendly.Nico and Norman were our waitstaff and so accommodating to our desires. Joseph and Philip in the Quill and Compass bar were like Tom Cruise in Cocktail. All the dining coices were so well prepared from the main dining room to the pizza salad and hot dog shop. I even needed an extension cord and was provided with one in a matter of minutes. The main purpose of this cruise was my wifes bday which she was treated like royalty by the staff and Captain. After using other cruise lines Royal Caribbean was superior to them. Every day was a relaxing but fun filled adventure. We had zero issues and will continue to use Royal Caribbean as our line of choice. Thank you for a great time on th high seas.
Overall, great value for the money. The good: - great selection of fresh and healthy food options. We ate at the Windjammer all the time as it was convenient, quick, no dress up required and offered numerous choices. - great customer service/crew - clean The not-so-good: - cruise ship is on the smaller end and we felt a lot of rocking. All 3 of us (ages 44, 14, and 11) wore anti-nausea bracelets the whole week. - main pool is tiny and basically unusable unless you want to simply dip in. - The only show we enjoyed was the Levent Magic Show. The Tango show was ok for me but very boring for my kids. Piano Man and City of Dreams were disappointing. The show staff is very small and it seems like they simply combined singing, dancing, and musical episodes that did not fit together in any way. - We booked 3 RC excursions and I was very disappointed in how they were organized. There is barely any time at the beach. Too much time is spent on eating in a restaurant. My belief is that if you want to eat, you can stay on the ship. Eating should not take up over an hour of a 5 hour excursion. My favorite excursion was the one I booked with a local tour company in Honduras, as it was geared to exactly what I wanted. I would recommend doing that instead of getting RC excursions.
The ship is very clean and well kept. The main dinning room staffs were very friendly. Specially Ankit and Paritosh they did wonderful job. My wife and I love the Tampa Bay port, however I think Royal caribbean needs to build new ships suitable for the Tampa Bay market. They don't have to be big ships, but more modernized. So we can have "MINI WONDER OF THE SEAS OR MINI ICON" in Tampa Bay. In regards to the ports of call, all of them are beautiful. However Costa Maya is full with thieves and dishonest people. One of them tried to sell me a small snapper for $80 USD, then $45 USD. Swapping menu is one of their tricks. Always keep the menu after ordering your foods, if not your bills will be higher and a new menu that reflects the inflated price. Be careful! If your waiter wants to take your menu before the bills say "NO"
We have been on both the Brilliance of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas, so some past experience and expectations with this size ship. We left from Tampa, which was a first for us, and not a bad experience overall. Getting to the port was somewhat of a pain, but everything else was smooth. We decided to have a Junior Suite and overall room was perfect. Located at the back of the ship, we hope for some piece and quiet. unfortunately, quiet was tough to come by. It appears this room is at the kitchen area for the Windjammer and each morning is sounded like an elevator was always going, starting before 5. Not fun as we were woken up each morning. The Windjammer food is exactly the same for breakfast, and was fine, but so wish they focused attention on changing the morning menu. We ate dinner at Chops and Giovannis, and both were excellent. The main dining room was the same, you select what you hope will be good from limited menu. (Some good meals and some not so good meals) I have said this before, wish they went back to old menus. We went to all the shows and both Adult comedians were excellent. The Tango Buenes Aeries show was amazing! The other shows were quite bad due to the singers. Other entertainment was good and the crew did a great job. Overall a good vacation and nice ship, but this is our last trip on this class.
